That's SO something I would have done! Once I was making strawberry shortcake from the recipe on the Bisquick box. I followed it very carefully, even though it seemed like the recipe was calling for an awful lot of sugar. I put them in the oven, and when I pulled them out 20 minutes later, they were flat and hard as a rock. I looked over the directions again, and realized that the recipe only needed a tablespoon (or so...I can't really remember off the top of my head) of sugar, and the rest was to be set aside to mascerate the strawberries.
Oops.
But that's par for the course for me! I feel your rice cooker pain...I totally could have done the same thing.
